1st shot, 2nd mis-shot

i am a long shot from doing a proper second shot. i need to take some lessons from the 2ndshot specialist.

anyway, the first photo was taken about two years ago when i first stumbled upon this disused building while walking around the dairy farm area.

the second shot was taken yesterday. it shows the visitors' centre of the soon-to-be-opened dairy farm nature park.

the development of the dairy farm nature park is meant to draw some of the crowds from the bukit timah nature reserve which is finding it difficult to cope with the number of visitors, especially those with cars, on weekends.

there are two wells that came with the disused buildings and they have been left more or less in tact.

there are two car-parks for visitors to the dairy farm nature reserve. one is at the junction of dairy farm road and upper bukit timah road. the other, a bigger car-park with toilet facilities, is just before the junction of dairy farm road and petir road, if you are coming from the bukit timah expressway (bke).

that's the reason there were so many openings?

When I was a small kid, my friends and I used to sit at one of the semi-D houses in Chestnut Close and we could see the cows grazing in the fields. Beside this cowshed (your photo) which was further away from us (nearer to BT Hill), there was another one nearer to Chestnut Close. There were wooden fences which kept the black and white patches cows in the paddocks.

peter, from chestnut close you wouldn't have been able to see the building (in my photo) because it is quite far from the main road. according to records, there used to be gambier plantation in the 1830s and a dairy farm in the 1930s.

Main road as in "Dairy Farm Road"? Mayb I made a mistake. Was yours just in front of the quarry? Next time when u see aerial photo in my next article, please identify the location of that bdlg again.

Can u also tell me whether it is possible to drive into Upper Pierce reservoir from a gate on the Old Thomson Road (not the one at Island Club Road into Lower Pierce but the old Singapore Grand Prix circuit)?

The Chestnut Avenue and Dairy farm Road areas used to have durian and rubber trees.

yes, peter, in fact, it is the only way to get to the upper peirce reservoir if you drive. the gate is along the old upper thomson road. however, there is a notice which says the gate is closed at 7.00p.m. and it is opened at 6.00 a.m. the next day.

there are still durian trees and rubber trees in the forested area nearby. in fact, next to an abandoned building not far from the dairy farm visitors' centre, there is a huge durian tree, and a rambutan tree.

peter, the building is not near the s'pore quarry but it is not far from the filled up dairy farm quarry.

peter, correction. the gate at upper peirce is open between 6.00 a.m. and 7.30 p.m.
