monitor lizard napping on a tree

i know the monitor lizard can climb trees, what i did not know was that it would climb a tree to take a nap. yesterday, i 'caught' this one taking a nap snug at the fork of a tree in sungei buloh wetland reserve. i thought it would normally go back to its burrow near the water to sleep.

The visible animals, besides monitor lizards, there are the stray dogs which i am quite wary of; don't know if they will attack visitors to the reserve. They appear to be rather hostile.

I saw one just like that at MacRitchie. At a rather public area some more.
