the trumpet tree (tabebuia rosea)
the trumpet tree seen from my bedroom window

a carpet of pink flowers at bishan park 2

white flowers at bishan park 2

this stunning tree at lim chu kang; just could not resist stopping to take a picture

a row of trumpet trees by the canal near block 221 bishan

another tree at lim chu kang. a friend asked: why would people want to spend so much money to go overseas to admire trees when we have such beautiful ones in singapore

when i look out of my bedroom window, i see the flowers on four trees by the side of the access road. the flowers are light purple or pink in colour. yesterday, when i drove along woodlands avenue 2 towards the seletar expressway (sle), i saw to my right, a few tree all covered with white flowers. it was quite an arresting sight. it does make you think of spring in a temperate country. it even looks like cherry blossom.

later, while walking at bishan park 2 towards the community garden, i saw the ground all covered with these pink and white flowers. it was quite a spectacular sight. the flowers seem to be raining continuously, a few at a time, from the trees.

the large, trumpet-shaped flowers usually bloom after a dry spell. the flowering period lasts several days, and the entire tree is covered with a profusion of blossoms.

according to a nparks website, the tabebuia rosea trees can be commonly found along roadsides in singapore. some locations include:

junction of whampoa south and bendemeer road (along kallang park connector)
race course road
upper changi road east (between bedok road and bedok canal)
