aerial adventure course @ bedok reservoir park

i was at bedok reservoir for my nature walk when i came upon this interesting aerial adventure course. it is called the bedok reservoir park forest adventure tree top course. it operates from 10 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. every day except monday. however, if monday is a public holiday, then it remains open.

the aerial course comprises ladders, bridges, swings, nets, trapezes and zip lines. participants move from tree to tree, 5 metres above the ground, unaccompanied.

there is one course meant for kids of around 5 years old. the physical requirement is a minimum height of 1.10m. kids will be supervised by a trained and qualified instructor.

the grand course is meant for those who are 10 years and above and whose height is at least 1.40m.

the grand course is divided into 4 sections, participants descend from the trees to the ground on a zip line at the end of each section.

this net reminds me of the obstacle course we had for our school campers back in the 70s at pulau tekong. we named it the jacob's ladder.

the zip line over the water looks very appealing. one of the instructors was checking the equipment, something that they do every morning.

this is one of the bridges which requires the participant to crawl through. according to my friend, who is a regular visitor to the park, not many people make use of these facilities. the cost may be a deterrring factor. an adult pays $34 and for a child, it costs $20 f0r a 2-hour experience. there is also a family package for 2 adults and 2 juniors (below the age of 18) at $100.

nowadays, when school children attend camps at the moe adventure centres, they all get a chance to experience the low and high elements which are quite similar to those found at this tree top course.

when i was younger, i could have 'sailed' through these obstacles with ease but nowadays i seem to have lost that confidence. a few years ago, i was at a p5 camp when i tried to show some 10 and 11 year old kids that a senior person could also cross the rope bridge easily and confidently. however, when i was up there, i found my limbs weak and myself shivering in fear (of the height).

Pay $34 just to go back to my primal behaviour, i.e. swing from tree to tree? No way! (Fyi, I am born in the Year of the Monkey.)

my hangout place ! i frequent the place often to jog in the evenings and do some workouts.

the 'ang mohs' are the ones that i see often participating in this obstacle course. they would normally bring their kids along, take photographs while they are going through it and also some adults even participate in it. maybe outward bound is a better choice for singaporeans?

besides this forest adventure thingy, water sports like canoeing, fishing, water skiing is also frequent by the locals.

andy, there is a fishing spot just across the road from car-park b - the old tampines sand quarry pond. i was there last wednesday; didn't see anyone fishing but saw a lot of signs that showed people have been fishing there.

This one looks more manageable and accessible, compared to OBS.
