spa(rr)ing with the fish @ qian hu

took ivy and ian to qian hu fish farm at jalan lekar to have a go at the fish spa. ivy and ian paid $10 each to 'feed' the fish. since they went there in slippers, there was no need for them to use their slippers. the towel for cleaning and drying the feet after the spa session was provided free- of-charge.

qiah hu, which started with one circular pond, now has two ponds for this purpose. the original pond is filled with the toothless garra rufa but the other pond has other much bigger fish, some as large as 22cm. some of the fish look like barbs.

initially, ivy felt ticklish and kept lifting her two feet out of the water. after sometime, she got used to the sensation and felt quite comfortable letting the fish nibble at her dead skin. she stayed at the same pond and same spot for the entire session whereas ian transferred his feet to the other pond during the last ten minutes.

he compared the pleasant sensation of being nibbled by the bigger fish as being sucked by some miniature vacuum cleaners. however, when it comes to doing what they are advertised to do, he thinks that the smaller garra rufa are more effective.

i did not like the idea of fish tickling me so i did not give the fish a taste of me. for senior citizens, there is a concession rate of $5 for a half-hour session.

The charges at Qian Hu's fish spa seem quite reasonable. There is a fish spa at the Singapore Flyer which charges close to $30 for half an hour.

Experts say that there could some risk of infection for users of fish spas. You seem to take such reports with a pinch of salt too, eh?

No wonder Qian Hu’s shares are moving south. The second photograph shows poor knowledge on simple arithmetic.
Any extra charge if the garra rufa fish had to nibble away the dead skin of a rhinoceros leg shown on the third photograph?
You did not like the idea of fish tickling your two legs. As a senior citizen, it will be a different sensation if you can go a little deeper and allow the fish to tickle your third leg.

mr nah, my third leg is now more like a pipe - for passing out water only -so it will not respond to any stimulus.

victor, ya, you are right, the risk of infection is there, especially if you have a sore or an open wound.

Wow. $20 just to let you sit there. Maybe I shd start on in my 'jungle' garden.

chun see, the fish garra rufa is not cheap and you need a few hundred fish to start with. maybe, you should try and breed the fish in your garden pond.

Oh no! That leg is yours!!! A thousand apologies. Why did you reincarnate into that animal? A hippopotamus is a better choice.

I thought the leg in question doesn't look like a man's, without all the hairs.

This is supposed to be very good for dry skin. Looks great and at least its something different to try.

It would definitely be something different to try. I don't think i would chance the bigger fish though.

hi evony tips, the authentic feeders on dead skin are the smaller fish; the bigger ones are for variety and novelty. i don't think they are as effective as the smaller ones.
