what is this building?

this 60-year old building seems to stick out like a sore thumb with all the new buildings surrounding it. it has seen glory in its younger days.

what is housed within this building?

where is this building located?

there is a gymnasium with a boxing ring inside this building which is located at rutland road. the tennis courts are still around. there is a small office within this building where you can make booking to use the tennis courts.

I think it is either in either SGH or TTSH.

i had expected you to identify it straight away because you would have seen this building before. if i show what is behind this building, you will surely recognise this place.

okay, some hints. it is a sports body that occupies this building and, i think, its present president is a lady.

because it is a short distance, less than 50m, from the farrer park swimming complex.

the old farrer park?

what happened to the farrer park stadium - the one they use to host the combined schools athletic meets?

farrer park stadium was demolished many years ago. today, part of the site is occupied by the farrer park primary school, which came about as a result of the merger of boon keng primary and may primary schools.

hi jimbam, you must have lived in one of those blocks of flats located in the area bounded by dorset road, westmoreland road and gloucester road. or were you referring to those blocks at princess elizabeth estate? i think the food centre you mentioned was the defunct farrer park food centre. some of the food stalls relocated to the pek kio food centre. i think the famous 'no sign board' had its beginning at the farrer park food centre. if i remember correctly the kaching putih man had a portable display stand.
