old coffee-shop quiz

my blogger friend stumbled upon an old gun and based a quiz on it. however, without any clue, it was almost impossible to tell where he had stumbled. all the help he would give was to tell us that 'cannon' in cantonese or mandarin has the same meaning as 'to lie'.

today, i re-visited this old coffee-shop. my quiz is based on this old run-down building. to help you along, i can tell you that this coffee-shop is as old as i, if not older. i used to live in a house just across the road.

looks like this coffee-shop has attained some kind of celebrity status. the day when i was there, there were other photographers taking pictures of the shop. i did not drink or eat at the shop. it looks dingy. it looks like it belongs to another era. time seems to have stopped moving here but the old clock on the wall was still ticking away.

quiz questions:

1 how old is this coffee-shop?

2 it was featured in a local documentary. what's the documentary?

3 where did i use to live? (the type of question my blogger friend, the cannon stumbler likes to pose)

This looks bit like Keong Saik?

andrew, it's nearer to the another well-known red light area.

Haha ok! Thought it was Keong Saik, as there was a similar shaped kopitiam near the boutique hotel. :)

Agreed with the others that it should be the one at Keong Saik Rd. Heard this coffeeshop has been operating since the early 1950s.

fl, if i had lifted the picture from the internet, then i might not be certain of the location but i didn't. i took the photo myself and i had lived for a few years in a house opposite this coffee-shop. so, i am saying again: it is near another well-known red light area.
anyway, that gives me an excuse to visit keong saik road.

I think it is in the Bt Panjang area.

as you all seem to be getting farther and farther away from the answer....the place, let me tell me that the documentary programme was aired on okto.
chun see, when bukit panjang was zhenghua, you might have seen this type of coffee shops. today, no more such coffee shops.

Good to know the coffee-shop, at the junction of Upper Weld Road and Kampong Kapor, is still around . The last time I had kopi-o-siew-tai there was about three years ago.
