the top tourist attraction among s'poreans?

even if you do not understand the language, you will know that this sign is pointing to some tourist attraction. a brown signboard with white lettering is an internationally recognised tourist sign.

so, in singapore, which tourist attraction/spot is most popular with local men - both married and unmarried - and some foreign ones, especially those from across the causeway? some of them go there surreptitiously, without the knowledge of their wives and family members. i suppose some women do visit this place. i do not have the kind of money to visit such a place.

i believe the place gets crowded on fridays and weekends.

where is this place ? most of the people who go to this place are repeat visitors.

Hey I went inside before and it was free. I think there was no race at that time.

Would you believe I guessed the answer correctly. First I thought it had to do with the Kranji war memorial. Then I read the hints about the Msian visitors. The Spore Turf Club used to be located near my house and I recall seeing lots of Msian motor cycles. Many cars park in my estate even, so that they could make a quick getaway.

These two attractions may have lightened many pockets, but they sure must have lightened up the faces of some happy suckers.

chun see, those days, on weekends, the congestion was near your place, especially after the races. i used to have problem negotiating wilby road. incidentally, i drove along old holland road on saturday and found out that they are finally developing (building a condo)a small part of the holland plain - the place you blogged about.

icemoon,

i think they have held some musical performances at the venue once in a while, on non-racing days. i have not been to the new turf club.

roger, that's why i find it amusing that a place where lots of local people go to place bets is considered a tourist attraction.

It is today the only horse-racing club in Singapore and is part of the Malayan Racing Association, which also regulates the three Turf Clubs in Malaysia, the Selangor Turf Club, Penang Turf Club and Perak Turf Club The Singapore Turf Club is the only authorised operator of horse racing, and totalisator (horse betting) services in Singapore.
