mini dragon fruit

you have seen a lot of the dragon fruit at the supermarkets and fruit stalls. you have also seen the plants when you visited some of the fruit and vegetable farms in lim chu kang. but, have you seen the mini version of the dragon fruit?

i have not seen it grown locally. i saw these plants in somebody's garden in kluang, johor. the plants are much smaller/shorter than the normal sized dragon fruit, so you can actually grow the miniature dragon fruit plant in a hdb flat.

how does it taste compared to the actual dragon fruit? it is slimy, seedy and rather bland. after you have chewed through the seeds, towards the end, you can detect a slight durian taste.
